We are all busy. Very busy. Not only in life, but in church. We are so busy, in fact, that we often don’t have time to do what really matters. Or, at least what matters to God. And, if we’re really honest with ourselves, we often don’t have time for God.
So, what really matters to God? Well, we do! Just take a look at 1 Peter 2: 9, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” Imagine that! God calls us a “royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God”! Not only does this suggest that we matter to God, the passage also tells us why we matter – “that we may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” We are God’s people called to do what God has invited us to do. Problem is, we don’t always know what God wants us to do. Perhaps the reason we are unaware of God’s plan for our lives is that we’ve never asked. Or, maybe we asked, He answered, and we said, “Nope, I don’t think that’s what God wants me to do.” So, we get busier and busier doing “church work” in hopes that we’ll find fulfillment and please God in the process. What if there were a process to help us discover what God wanted us to do? We believe that God has given each Christian one job to do, that we can figure out what that job is, and that we can do that job with all of our heart, body, and soul. Why do we say “one job”? Take a look at Abraham, Moses, David, Joseph, Jesus, Paul. What was the one thing God called each of them to do? What if God has been developing your character over the course of your life to help you fulfill the calling He’s given you. If there was a process to help you discover your calling, would you do it?
